We’ve had a wonderful year here at 134 West — a year of making new friendships, developing new projects and zooming past milestones. We got to create lots of new art, and experience another beautiful return to Green Gables. There is so many projects to talk about, but we will only mention two: Ty the Pie Guy and Bend in the Road: The Anne of Green Gables Musical.

Ty the Pie Guy traveled to Canada to win BEST IN FAMILY at the Vancouver Web Fest!

I Dream of Dragons, Too

In Family Entertainment, Movies, Our Work, Transmedia, Uncategorized on February 15, 2015 at 10:48 am

awards_academynom_annieupdateWe are so excited for, and proud of, our friends at Dreamworks Animation for the amazing success of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2. Over $618 million in worldwide boxoffice and it continues to gain much deserved critical acclaim with multiple nominations and several awards under it’s high-flying belt: The Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film and 6 Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature Film and Best Director for Dean DeBlois. It has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Fingers crossed for a win next Sunday, February 22! It would be a great nod to the film, the franchise (cause really, no offense to Toy Story 3, but How To Train Your Dragon should have taken the 2010 Oscar) and to the studio that has broken so much ground with their edgy and inspiring filmmaking and animation.

Check out the fun Dragons site http://dreamworksdragons.com for a deep dive into this spectacular world, which highlights not only the amazing movies, but also the TV show, the games, the products and all the characters. It’s all the dragons you’ll ever need in one place. This TVGla and Dreamworks franchise site was a 2014 W³ Awards Best in Show Winner!

In Family Entertainment, Our Work, Uncategorized on January 14, 2015 at 8:26 am

tythepieguybcardwithouturlWe’ve been hard at work and play cooking up the fun and fantastic TY THE PIE GUY, a new, story-driven comedy cooking show for kids and families. It’s perfect for ages 4-8 and their parents, though we think everyone will enjoy watching Ty’s antics and learning a little bit more about their kitchen.

TyPieGuy_Ty_juggling134 West is proud to produce and present this charming and educational show which we hope will inspire families to cook together. Ty The Pie Guy is created by the hilarious and adorable Ty Freedman, who played Charlie in the LA production of 134 West’s BEND IN THE ROAD: The Anne of Green Gables Musical.  He writes and stars in this unique, story-driven show which combines comedy and cooking tips to help kids and their parents get excited to get in their kitchen and explore new foods and recipes.

BEND IN THE ROAD: The Anne of Green Gables Musical is a fun and heartwarming family comedy musical based on the beloved classic novel, Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne’s intelligent, joyous and imaginative ways change the lives of all those around her in this small town, including Matthew, Marilla and nosy town gossip Mrs. Rachel Lynde. Anne finds fast friendships at school and a rivalry with classmate Gilbert Blythe turns complicated as they grow up.

Songs for all the seven ages inspired by the bard!

Songs for all the seven ages inspired by the bard!

134 West presents O BABY MINE: Sing a Song of Shakespeare, a new indie album of children’s songs and lullabies inspired by, and taken from, Shakespeare’s plays.  Producer/Director Susan Lambert conceived this new concept album when she adapted the lyrics of Twelfth Night’s O Mistress Mine to sing to her infant son while rocking him to sleep.

Alas, poor Yorick... Sing a Song of Shakespeare with O Baby Mine.

Executive Produced by Lambert. Produced by music and theater man-about-town Rob Kendt and featuring songs by Kendt, Madison Scheckel, Raymond Bokhour, Cinco Paul and many others! It’s a wonderful collection for smart and indie music loving families as well as theatre lovers and their kids. And, of course, for those who love the Bard, O BABY MINE is a wonderful way to share Shakespeare’s stories and words with all the seven ages.  And the great thing is, this music isn’t just for kids or for Shakespeare fans. When 134 West produces family entertainment, it means everyone enjoys the fun.
